Biography
Jie Yang is a researcher and engineer who earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University, where she worked as a research assistant at HBIL from 2014 to 2018. Her research focused on applying deep learning and computer vision techniques to medical imaging, including projects on lung cancer prediction using CT images, COPD diagnosis through image segmentation, and nuclei segmentation with Mask R-CNN.
After completing her Ph.D., Jie Yang worked at Google Health Research, focusing on AI/ML applications for medical imaging, and is currently a Senior Software Engineer at Waymo, specializing in perception systems for self-driving cars. Her expertise spans machine learning, computer vision, and large-scale medical imaging analysis.
