Biography

Dr. Barr's research focuses on respiratory epidemiology, particularly chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and emphysema. He aims to understand the causes of these conditions and their subtypes by integrating advanced imaging (CT and MRI) with multi-omic data using machine learning. He is the principal investigator for several major studies, including the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) Lung Study, the SPIROMICS Heart Failure Study, a deep-learning CT scan study, and the C4R CT Harmonization Study, which involves harmonizing lung CT data from 30,000 participants across 10 cohorts.
